26 Best DIY Body Scrubs
As we age. our skin cells die and build up due to the slowing down of collagen and elastin production. Collagen occurs especially in the skin and its reduction leads to ageing skin and wrinkles. Elastin, as the name suggests, gives our skin elasticity and the ability to bounce back. That is why you must have noticed that with age your skin starts sagging.
Scrubbing accelerates our skin’s ability to replace old dead cells with the new one. Without scrubbing the dead cells take at least 28 days to be replaced by new ones and as you age this time goes on becoming longer and longer because of reduced collagen.
In fact, there is a drastic reduction in collagen in women after menopause. You will find a number of cosmetics that claim to increase collagen level but this is not possible as collagen molecules are too large to be absorbed by the skin.
So, the best way to remove those dead cells is to start scrubbing regularly!!
Don’t Just Scrub Your Face But Your Body Too!!
Most women just scrub their face once or twice a week and totally forget about body scrubbing. Dead cells are present everywhere on the skin not just on the face. So, scrubbing your body is as important as scrubbing your face !!!
DIY Scrubs over Chemical Ones
The simple mantra over choosing homemade cosmetics is you know what is going in those products. In commercially produced cosmetics you don’t know what has been used and how those products will react with your body or face.
Plus they have a lot of preservatives to extend their shelf life and preservatives are equally harmful whether they are in your cosmetics or your food. The best way to get a glowing and spot free face is doing it yourself.

What To Know Before Using Scrubs?
Scrubs should not be used if you are having an acne outbreak, skin infection, sunburn, extremely dry skin, redness or inflammation.
Whether scrubbing your face or body do it gently.
Use the scrubs fresh so make them for one-time use only.
Most DIY scrubs have oils in them which can make the floor or tub slippery. So, be extra careful you may slip.
There are certain substitutes I am giving for some products which may not be available with you.
Grapefruit - Orange
Avocado Oil - Castor or Olive oil
Grapeseed Oil - Sunflower, Safflower or Apricot kernel oil
Jojoba Oil - Sweet almond oil
Argan Oil - Hemp seed or sunflower oil
Brown sugar - Normal sugar
Always Moisturise your body and face after scrubbing.
Anyone can use these scrubs regardless of the skin type, I have given one scrub especially for dry skin. However, if you are allergic to any ingredient avoid that scrub.
