SuperFat Nut Butters - Tasty and Healthy at the same time
If you have read my previous articles you must be aware by now that I am not a huge fan of processed and packaged foods. Why? Because they are loaded with salts, artificial sweeteners, and preservatives. To simply put it the marketing industry is selling us crap in the name of low-calorie and low-fat products.
But just a few months back I stumbled upon this product named SuperFat. SuperFat is a nut butter. Now, I love nut butters but that’s not what made me order it all the way from the US !! What caught my attention was its ingredients list which had no preservatives at all and has some premium super nuts like macadamia and almonds!!
The product looked promising as it claimed to be Keto and Paleo certified, 100% Vegan, and had no added sugar. I had a look at the website and it claims that SuperFat contains monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats which help in controlling weight, lowering cholesterol, boosting metabolism, and aid healthy brain function.
Being an Indian who has grown up eating ghee (clarified butter) daily I am a firm believer that healthy fats are an essential part of our daily diet. The marketing industry has made fats the super villain but it's great that with diets such as keto, fats are again coming back.
So, I decided to order SuperFat and give it a try. I ordered the SuperFat (Protein) and the variety pack which had 2 pouches of each of the five different flavors.
The Taste
Honestly, when you think of a healthy food option you subconsciously expect the taste to be not so good. If a salad would have tasted better than a pizza, why the hell would anyone order pizza?
So, even though I was trying not to be biased, somewhere deep down I expected these nut butters to taste like one of those “salads”. You hate them but you put up a smile in front of everyone to show how health conscious you are (true story).
I started my butter tasting session with SuperFat (Protein) and now I have hidden the box so that I don’t see it and end up eating the entire box !! On a serious note, I absolutely loved this flavour and this one is my favorite among all five. I am even taking it to the gym now for my post-workout meal.
The SuperFat cacao flavour is my second favorite. It has a strong coconut flavour. Even though its named cacao coconut, the coconut flavour is stronger compared to cacao. Anyways I have a sweet tooth and this is my new “healthy dessert “ option.
Both the SuperFat original and the probiotic one had a somewhat similar taste but the SuperFat original had a slightly stronger flavour.
SuperFat Nitro was the only flavour that I didn't like at all. Even though I love coffee something was seriously wrong with this Nitro coffee and MCT combo. It had a strong bitter taste and I just couldn't make myself have a second go at it. This one is a complete thumbs down from my side.

The Price
The variety pack which has 10 pouches- 2 of each flavour is worth $37.95 and you can get a pack of 10 pouches of any of your favorite flavors for $34.95. That’s pretty expensive, right?
That was what I thought at first but then I did some research and found out the price of one nut that was common in all the 5 flavors, macadamia nut. And trust me they are expensive, just 1 lb of macadamia nuts (without shells) cost $23.9 !! Fun fact- they are the hardest nut to crack! You need to buy a special nutcracker to open them up. It takes 300 lbs. per square inch to break the shell of this tough nut.
A single pack of superFat has 10 pouches each weighing 1.5 oz which makes it a total of 15 oz of nut butter. Looking at the price of this super healthy but super expensive nut and the other ingredients as well including almonds, coconut, cacao, etc. I feel even though it’s expensive it's not overpriced.
Nuts And Nutrition
I think everyone agrees with the fact that nuts are great for health. They contain healthy fats and fats are back in the health industry.
In fact, fats never deserved the treatment they received. There was never anything wrong with them, what was wrong was the way we were eating them. They are not supposed to be combined with high carbs, sugar, and preservatives. All these additives make the nutrient content of these healthy fats zero and reduce them to just empty calories.
So, let's just have a look at why these healthy fat sources can be your anytime superfood:
Macadamia nuts:
This super nut is packed with far too many benefits. This nut contains monounsaturated fats, palmitoleic acid, and oleic acid. These three make them great to improve heart health, reduce blood sugar, improve brain health, and aid weight loss.
Macadamia nuts are good sources of calcium, magnesium, and potassium too, these three minerals help prevent bone demineralisation. Macadamia nuts also contain fibres making them great for the gut.
They are not just a source of good health but their essential fatty acids can make your skin glow and hairs strong.
Coconut:
Coconut is packed with lauric acid and it has 90% saturated fat. Before you start thinking what a saturated fat source is doing in a health food like SuperFat, let's get one thing clear. Not all saturated fats are bad !! Saturated fats with Long Chain Triglycerides are harmful but real foods like coconut, ghee, etc. which have medium chain (MCT) or short chain triglycerides are great for our heart and overall health. MCT even aids weight loss.
Almonds:
Almonds are high in phytic acid and are loaded with antioxidants and Vitamin E. They lower blood sugar, blood pressure, LDL cholesterol, and aid weight loss.
Even if you are not planning to buy SuperFat do read their Nut Guide which I found very informative. They have included every nut you can find and given a comprehensive guide on their benefits.

SuperFat-The Verdict
Before I decide whether SuperFat is worth it or not, let's have a look at the pros and cons.
Pros:
It’s pocket-friendly and easy to carry.
It has some premium ingredients like macadamia nuts and the purest form of chocolate (cacao).
It’s super tasty.
It’s great even if you are on keto or paleo diet.
It is very filling and makes a great mid-day meal and post-workout meal.
No preservatives or added sugar. It uses stevia and Erythritol which are low-calorie sweeteners.
It uses real foods which are not genetically modified.
It’s versatile. You can add it to a smoothie, a sandwich or just have it straight from the squeezable pouch.
There are five different flavors available.
Cons:
It’s expensive.
The Nitro MCT flavour sucks. So, I might not opt for the variety pack again.
The squeezable packaging makes it super convenient. But it also wastes the nut butter. By the end, no matter how much I squeezed a lot of nut butter was still left inside the packet. I had to finally rip open the packet to eat the last bit and my hands were all messy.
So, back to the verdict. The pros list is just too good to ignore. I would have given SuperFat a miss ( only because of its price) and opted for buying nuts instead had it not been so healthy, so convenient to carry and so versatile to use. The quality of the product that SuperFat is offering is amazing and is totally worth the price. Spending a little extra on your health is not such a bad idea after all !!
My only suggestion would be that they should use a smaller nozzle to squeeze out the butter so that it’s not wasted.
