How And Why To Use A Beauty Blender Sponge
Beauty Blender sponge is an innovative makeup tool which gives you a flawless finish. It was invented by top Hollywood makeup artists Rea Ann Silva and Veronica Lorenz. But don’t worry you need not be a professional artist to use it.
Getting a perfect base is the key to a good makeup. Most of us who are not experts depend on our fingers and brushes when it comes to making the foundation base. But still end up with either a cakey finish or streaks and lines because of the brushes.
By using a makeup blender sponge we can get that professional makeup look at home easily.
What Is A Beauty Blender Sponge?
It is generally an egg shaped sponge which is pointed on one side however it is available in various shapes depending on different applications and uses. It has a suede texture which is soft on your skin and it’s shape makes it easy to glide through every curve and reach even the difficult areas such as the corner of your eyes.
It is latex-free, gentle and non-abrasive. So, it is ideal for even irritated, sensitive or acne prone skin.
A beauty blender is not just used to give a flawless base but can also be used for contouring and highlighting.
The motto behind this invention was to make good makeup easy and accessible to all. So, by using a blender you can get that professional makeup look even without any help.

Why Beauty Blenders Are Better Than Brushes And Fingers?
Using your fingers or brushes leads to a concentrated application of the product you are using whether it is your foundation, primer or contour. Whereas the beauty blender gives a more flawless natural finish, concentrated application may make your face look cakey and it also wastes a lot of the product.
Frankly, if you are using any expensive brands product every drop of foundation counts.
Beauty blenders are multi-purpose. Most people think that they can be used only for liquid formulas like liquid foundations but they are great with pressed powders like compacts too!!
Brushes act like little brooms when using pressed powders they just sweep the powder here and there. To apply the powder evenly and to make full use of its oil-absorbing properties a beauty blender is a better option than brushes.
Not just making a base but the blender can also be used to give your face a refreshing look when you don’t have the time to give a last minute touch up and need to go to a party. You must have noticed that by evening you start getting a cakey look even if your makeup was perfect in the morning. Just use the blender to re-blend your makeup and get a refreshed look again in minutes without layering on more and more makeup to get the flawless finish back.
You can even use the blender to apply skincare products like moisturisers and creams. They work equally good with makeup and skin care products too !!!
Types Of Beauty Blenders
Triangle Makeup Blender
These are generally one time use and are perfect if you are lazy and don’t want to wash the blenders. They are the cheapest of the lot. But their sharp edges makes it difficult to distribute the products evenly. It’s better to invest in the curvier options available as they give a better finish and are easier to use.
Egg Shaped Blender
This is the original version of the blender invented by Rea Ann Silva and Veronica Lorenz. It is very handy and can be reused. This gives a wonderful coverage and is even good for building up. Use the broader part to cover larger areas like cheeks, forehead, neck etc. and use the pointier area to cover difficult to reach areas like under the eyes and the corners of your eyes.
Hour-Glass Shaped Blender
This is just a different version of the egg shaped blender. It has the same usage and benefits as the egg shaped one. The only positive other than those of the egg shaped are due to its hourglass shape it is easier to hold and use and cover even larger makeup areas.
The Sculptor
This blender can also be used for applying foundation and primer. But this is especially designed for contouring and highlighting. The sculptor has flat edges. You can use one flat edge for contouring. Just apply the contour and dab on the soaked blender to dab the contour. The other edge can be used for highlighting. Use it just like you used it for contouring.
The Mini Blender
Keep this handy if you tend to be messy while doing your makeup. It’s small size makes it the perfect choice to wipe up makeup from small areas. If you smudge your eyeliner or mascara, just use this to wipe the small area and again apply makeup to that area. It can also be used for applying under eye concealer and to remove laugh lines from your face.

How To Use A Makeup Blender Sponge?
Wet your blender nicely and then squeeze out the excess water. The blender should be barely damp. You will notice that its size increases once wet.
Take out some foundation on the back of your hand or any other surface and dip the round end into it.
Start by dabbing or bouncing the blender on your face to cover large areas. Do not drag it or rub it across your face. Do not press it to hard on your skin
Use your ring finger and pat concealer over your dark circles and use the pointy end to dab the concealer and blend it with your foundation.
Use the round end to dab on a setting powder or compact powder to set the foundation and concealer.
Always clean the blender before next use.
How To Clean The Makeup Blender Sponge
Method 1:

Method 2:
Take some baby soap liquid and apply it on the dirty portions of the blender. Now dip it water and squeeze it. Repeat this till the blender is completely clean.
Beauty blender is perfect for getting a flawless and natural look. I would recommend it to apply foundation, setting powder, contour and highlighter. However, for eyeshadows brushes are the best option and use your fingers when the product need to be warmed up a little before use.
