13 DIY Natural Eye Creams

13 DIY Natural Eye Creams

If you have read my previous article on creating your own daily skincare routine, you must be aware by now that eye cream should be an essential part of both your day and night beauty regimen, especially if you have dark circles, baggy eyes, crow’s feet, etc.

Let me further improvise, if you have crossed your early twenties then you should use an eye cream whether or not you have any problems that I mentioned above. Why?

Because believe it or not you have started ageing, even if you are just in your late twenties. The first place ageing will show up is not just your face but your eyes too !! As we age our skin starts producing collagen and elastin at a much lower rate than before. Collagen occurs predominantly in the skin and its reduction leads to ageing skin, wrinkles, and the dreaded crow’s feet. Elastin, as the name suggests, gives our skin elasticity and the ability to bounce back.

The overall collagen production reduces by one percent per year. The three primary structural components of the skin are collagen, elastin, and glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) and these have been the focus of most anti-ageing research concerned with anti-ageing face creams, eye creams, and anti-wrinkle creams. Although it seems pretty convenient to replace these lost structural components using a cream, the fact is- It is not that simple !!

Ageing is a complex process and anti-Ageing science is still not there yet. For example, there are a few products which claim that they can supplement collagen but the truth is this is not possible. Collagen molecules are too large to be absorbed by the skin.

Now, I am not saying that you shouldn't use any of the commercially available products. Even if there is a lot of research still required, some products out in the market are definitely great but they are expensive too !! Using a natural eye cream gives you control over what you are going to use on your skin. You know the ingredients, you know how they are going to react with your skin, and most importantly you know they are safe (and cheap too !!).

In this article, I will give you some amazing DIY eye cream recipes.
